PM Modi: The country got the gift of Kochi-Mangaluru gas pipeline, PM Modi counted the benefits

PM Modi: Under the Kochi-Mangaluru natural gas pipeline project, the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) has constructed this 450-km long gas pipeline.

Urja Aatmanirbharta: Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Narendra Modi) inaugurated the Kochi-Mangaluru Natural Gas Pipeline through a video conference today. Liquefied Natural Gas in Kochi, Kerala, will pass through the natural gas Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Mallapuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod districts to Mangaluru in Karnataka.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister said that there is a great success in the direction of construction of ‘One Nation One Gas Grid’. He said that this is an important day for India in the direction of self-sufficiency in the energy sector. This state-of-the-art project will have a positive impact on the people. He said that when the pipeline starts working, the foreign expenditure of crores of rupees will be saved.




The Prime Minister, while enumerating the advantages of the Natural Gas Pipeline, said that this will increase the ease of living of millions of people of both the states. The expenses of the poor, middle class will be less here. This pipeline will become the medium of gas system in many cities.

The pipeline will form the basis of CNG based systems. Pollution will reduce with natural gas. Due to better environment, people’s health will be better and the expenditure on disease will be less.

He said that the work that is being done now for the development of India has never happened. We are lucky that we are part of this phase of development.

What is this project (Kochi-Mangaluru pipeline project)

Under the Kochi-Mangaluru natural gas pipeline project, the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) has constructed this 450-km long gas pipeline. This pipeline has the capacity to deliver 12 million metric cubic meters of natural gas daily. The Rs 3,000 crore project generated 12 lakh man days of employment.

The laying of this gas pipeline tax was a major engineering challenge because there are more than a hundred reservoirs and rivers in the path of the pipeline. This pipeline was prepared through horizontal direction drilling. This pipeline will also supply natural gas to the industrial units of the districts falling in the way.
