An SHO (police station in-charge) after a video of a Cop Kicking Street Vendor’s Vegetable Basket was allegedly viral on social media in Punjab ) Has been suspended. In the viral video, Navdeep Singh, the SHO (city) of Phagwara is seen stumbling over a vegetable basket of a track, which forced the police officers to take action against Singh.
State Director General of Police Dinkar Gupta said in a tweet, ‘Completely unacceptable and shameful. I have suspended the SHO of Phagwara. Such behavior cannot be tolerated under any circumstances and whoever is involved in it will have to face serious consequences.

Police said that Navdeep Singh appeared to damage the property of the vegetable seller on the track. Kapurthala Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardeep Kaur said that taking strict action against the accused officer immediately, he has been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been initiated against him.
Kapurthala police officials have contributed from their salary to compensate for the loss of the vegetable seller. The Punjab government had ordered closure of all shops not selling essential commodities till May 15.
It is permissible to operate shops of medicines and essential commodities such as milk, bread, vegetables, fruits, dairy and poultry products, meats and mobile repairing.
