It is quite easy to open a National Pension System (NPS) account using the online Aadhaar e-KYC. NSDL – CRA has enabled Aadhaar based online e-KYC authentication process for customer registration on its e-NPS platform. e-NPS is an online NPS on-boarding platform of Central Record Keeping Agencies (CRA) appointed by PFRDA. Here anyone can register with NPS. Also, online contribution can also be made here.
Existing subscribers can activate their Tier-2 account on this platform. Earlier, the registration under e-NPS was done through offline e-KYC or PAN and bank account of the person. But now the process of opening an NPS account has become easier with the Aadhaar based online e-KYC authentication process. Let’s know what the process is.
Step 1. You have to go to e-NPS portal (https://enps.nsdl.com/eNPS/NationalPensionSystem.html).
Step 2. Now you click on “National Pension System” and then on “Registration” option.
Step 3. Now select the account type in “New Registration”. After that choose an option from Indian Citizen, ARI or OCI.
Step 4. Now select “Aadhaar Online/Offline KYC” option from “Register With”. Now after this, select the option “Tier I only” from ‘Tier types’.
Step 5. Now you have to enter 12 digit Aadhaar or 16 digit virtual ID and then click Generate OTP.
Step 6. Now you have to enter the OTP received.
Step 7. On successful authentication, your demographic details like name, gender, date of birth, address, photo will be fetched from the Aadhaar record.
Step 8. Now you have to enter the other details asked for in the NPS registration process.
Step 9. Now you have to make your first NPS contribution and file OTP. With this, your NPS account will be opened.
