Tokyo Olympics 2020: 31 athletes from Haryana and 19 athletes from Punjab will participate in Tokyo Olympics. Haryana and Punjab have 40 per cent participation in the current Indian contingent.
India has sent its largest contingent so far to Tokyo for the Grand Kumbh Olympics of the New Delhi Games. 127 athletes will participate in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 on the Indian side. India is expected to have medals in shooting, wrestling, weightlifting and badminton in this Olympics, which will run from 23 July to 8 August.
Like the last few Olympics, this time also, Haryana and Punjab have the highest number of athletes in this ‘Maha Kumbh’. The share of these two states in the total population of India is 4.4 percent. Despite this, a total of 50 athletes from Haryana and Punjab will be seen trying their luck in Tokyo this time. These include 31 players from Haryana and 19 players from Punjab.
Overall, 40 per cent of the Indian contingent comprises athletes from Haryana and Punjab. After Haryana Punjab, Tamil Nadu is among the states whose athletes have the highest participation in the Tokyo Olympic contingent. After this comes the number of Kerala and Uttar Pradesh.

from Tamil Nadu The Tokyo Olympic contingent includes 11 players from Tamil Nadu. That is, 8.7 percent participation is from Tamil Nadu. 8-8 athletes from Kerala and UP will compete in Tokyo. Uttar Pradesh, which accounts for about 17 percent of India’s total population, contributes 6.3 percent to the Tokyo Olympic contingent. Kerala, which contributes 2.6 per cent of the population, has a 6.3 per cent participation in the Tokyo contingent.
9 Haryana players in men’s hockey team
Of the 19 members of the Indian men’s hockey team, 9 are from Haryana. 7 wrestlers from Haryana will beat this time in Tokyo. There are 4 female wrestlers and 3 male wrestlers. Four boxers (3 men and one woman) from Haryana will also be seen punching. Apart from this, four shooters are also involved in which 2 are female and 2 are male.
Talking about Punjab, its 11 players are included in the men’s hockey team, while two shooters will also participate in Tokyo. These include a man and a woman. The women’s hockey team includes two players from Punjab and one boxer.
6 athletes from Kerala will be seen in
athletics, 5 in athletics from Tamil Nadu, 3 in sailing and two in table tennis while one athlete will participate in fencing. Similarly, 6 out of 8 athletes from Kerala will participate in the field of athletics. In addition one will participate in swimming and one in men’s hockey team.
