Toll Free Expressway: Now you will not have to pay toll tax from Akshardham to Loni Border, details here

There is no need to pay toll tax on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway from Akshardham to Loni Border. The opening of this expressway can provide relief from traffic jams in many parts of East Delhi.

Toll Free Expressway: There is good news for those waiting to travel on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. There is no toll tax to be paid on this expressway from Akshardham to Loni border. Toll will not be collected in the initial 18 km stretch, but after that, toll will have to be paid according to the distance of travel. This expressway will directly benefit Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. After its opening, there can be relief from traffic jams in many parts of East Delhi.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has laid down the rules related to toll collection. Officials associated with the authority said that now a decision will be taken soon regarding the toll tax rates. He said that the toll rates between Delhi to Baghpat (Khekra) are likely to be higher than the average, because 90 percent of the expressway here is elevated, which costs a lot. Normally, NHAI collects toll at the rate of Rs 2.75 per kilometer, but here the toll rates can be higher than that.

Traffic expected to start from Akshardham to Khekra next month

Load testing work has been started in a large part of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway (Delhi Dehradun Expressway Opening Date) from Akshardham to Khekra in Baghpat. After testing, this part of the expressway will be opened for traffic as soon as the green signal is received from the ministry. It is likely that traffic will be started before July 30. NHAI officials say that currently only two packages of the first phase, 32 km long, are to be opened for traffic, but rules related to toll have been fixed for the entire expressway.

Considering the 210 km long expressway as a corridor, it has been decided that only one agency will collect toll. Project Implementation Unit (PIU) Baghpat has been made the nodal agency to monitor the toll plaza. A master control room will be set up under Baghpat PIU, which will monitor the entire expressway. Toll will be collected according to the distance on the expressway. Two main toll plazas are being built, in which a 14-lane toll plaza has been built in Ghaziabad’s Loni after crossing the Delhi border, while the second one is being built before Dehradun.

Load testing is being done on the entire corridor

Loaded trucks are being parked on the elevated corridor built in Delhi, Ghaziabad and Baghpat. It is being seen whether the elevated road is able to bear the load or not on the basis of the design on which it has been built.

If the Fastag is blacklisted, then the full toll will have to be paid

For those drivers whose Fastag is blacklisted, travelling on the expressway can be expensive. While travelling from Delhi to Dehradun, if they enter from somewhere in the middle and then exit at another point, then they will have to pay the toll for the entire expressway. For example, if someone boards from Saharanpur with a Fastag blacklisted vehicle and gets down at Baghpat, then he will have to pay the toll for the entire expressway. For this, NHAI will also put up boards at every entry point, so that the drivers get information about it.

Project likely to be completed by November

At present, only two packages are being opened for traffic in the first phase, but by November the remaining phases of the expressway will be ready. After this, the journey from Delhi to Dehradun can be completed in two and a quarter hours.

There may be relief from traffic jams in many parts of East Delhi

People going from Delhi to Baghpat, Loni, Saharanpur and Dehradun will be able to come and go directly to the expressway via Akshardham, Vikas Marg, ISBT Kashmiri Gate Link Road and Signature Bridge. This will reduce the pressure of about one to one and a half lakh vehicles per day.
