Toll Tax New Service: The era of Fastag seems to be coming to an end. Although nothing has been said officially about it, there are reports that the government is preparing to replace it with a new system GNSS. GNSS means Global Navigation Satellite System, which has also been mentioned by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. It is being said that this system is currently in the testing phase.

What is GNSS

The GNSS navigation coming in the future will be based on satellite system. It will have a satellite based unit, which will be installed in vehicles. With its help, the officials will be able to track when the car has started using the toll highway. As soon as the vehicle leaves the toll road, the system will calculate the use of the toll road and deduct the amount. The special thing is that with its help, passengers will pay only as much money as they have traveled.

What is the benefit

With its help, passengers will be able to know the exact amount of toll road usage and make the payment. Also, with its arrival, traditional toll booths will also be removed, where many times long queues were formed.

When is GNSS coming

At present, the government has not announced the date regarding this, but its testing is going on on two major highways of the country. These include Bengaluru-Mysore National Highway (NH-257) in Karnataka and Panipat-Hisar National Highway (NH-709) in Haryana. After getting the green signal from the top, it will be implemented in a phased manner.
