New rates of toll tax have been implemented at Niwada toll plaza in Kanpur. Car riders will now have to pay Rs 135 instead of Rs 95. Toll tax on heavy vehicles has also been increased by up to 43 percent. Bilhaur and Kannauj will be more affected by this increased amount. However, monthly pass can make travel economical.
Toll Tax Rate increas: After the construction of the elevated flyover between Mandhana and IIT, new rates of toll tax were implemented at Niwada toll plaza on GT Road Highway from Saturday night. Now the journey of vehicle riders going to Aligarh, Delhi and Kannauj and Bilhaur on this route has become expensive.
Earlier, car riders had to pay only 95 rupees, now in the new rates they will have to pay a toll of 135 rupees. Which has become expensive by about 42 percent.
The National Highway Authority of India NHAI has made the GT Road a four-lane by widening it from Kanpur to Aligarh in the project of road transport highway. The minimum prescribed toll tax was started to be collected even before the construction of the road was completed. After the construction of the elevated flyover between Mandhana and IIT, the new toll tax was increased from midnight of 2/3 Saturday. A new toll tax board for light and commercial vehicles has also been marked at Niwada Plaza.
Tax on commercial vehicles increased by 43 percent
Along with heavy vehicles, the new toll tax rates on commercial vehicles with three and seven or more axles have been increased by 43 percent. Light vehicles will now have to pay Rs 215 instead of Rs 150 as tax. Along with this, cars, jeeps, vans will have to pay Rs 135 instead of Rs 95. Commercial vehicles with three axles will have to pay Rs 345 to Rs 495 and commercial vehicles with seven or more axles will have to pay Rs 865 instead of Rs 605 for a single journey.
These toll tax rates will now prove to be troublesome for car travellers of Bilhaur and Kannauj. Travelling with monthly pass will be economical. A monthly pass scheme has been started for local non-commercial vehicles of Bilhaur and surrounding areas. Which will be for a distance of 20 km.
You can get a monthly pass of Rs 340 for cars and light vehicles from NHAI. Online registration is mandatory for this. Along with this, the rates have been revised for vehicles registered from Kanpur city.
NHAI Project Manager, Aman Rohilla said- The construction of Kanpur-Aligarh highway has been completed. The traffic of vehicles on the elevated flyover between Mandhana and IIT has also increased. The toll tax which was earlier being charged less at Niwada toll plaza of Shivrajpur has been increased.
