With the onset of winter, traffic control has been tightened on the 165.5 km long Yamuna Expressway from Greater Noida to Agra.
Taking strict action against those driving above the prescribed speed limit on Yamuna Expressway, the traffic police issued more than 150 e-challans within eight hours. Currently, the speed limit on Yamuna Expressway has been fixed at 100 kmph for light vehicles and 80 kmph for heavy vehicles. This speed limit has been implemented to avoid accidents due to poor visibility due to fog during the winter season.
Penalty for fast driving
Light vehicles breaking the speed limit (Yamuna Expressway Speed Limit) are fined Rs 2,000, while heavy vehicles are fined Rs 4,000. The speed limit may be further reduced between December 15 and February 15 to make travel safe during winter. In this, there will be a limit of 75 kmph for light vehicles and 60 kmph for heavy vehicles.
Road safety initiative
The traffic police celebrates the month of November as ‘Road Safety Month’. During this time, many types of awareness programs are organized in Noida and Greater Noida. In this connection, programs were organized at many places including Okhla Bird Sanctuary Metro Station, Sector 94 and Kalindi Kunj on Thursday. A plan has also been made to run an additional speed control drive on the Noida Expressway connecting Noida and Greater Noida.
