Along with this, people will also get back those vehicle related documents which were confiscated. The Uttar Pradesh government had ordered to cancel the challans issued during the period from 31 December 2016 to 31 December 2021. On June 2, an order was issued by the government that this is applicable on the challans of vehicles issued by both the traffic police and the transport department.
The government had ordered the transport officer to get the list of cases from the court and delete them from the e-challan portal. ARTO Administration Dr. Siyaram Verma said that after receiving the court order, the process of canceling the challan has been started. People can apply to the transport department to cancel the challan. If the driving license and vehicle registration certificate have been confiscated, then mention the same information on the application. The documents will be returned as soon as the challan is cancelled.
ARTO Enforcement Dr. Udit Narayan Pandey said that traffic rules are made for the safety of people. People should not violate these. A continuous investigation campaign is being conducted against drivers who violate the rules. In this, apart from confiscating the vehicles, challan action is being taken. The most frequent violations are being committed for speeding, driving without helmet and seat belt, driving on the wrong side and red light violation.
Apart from this, use of mobile phone while driving, violation of permit conditions by private buses, which includes stopping the bus at various places to disembark and disembark the passengers and disobeying other rules. He said that if people follow traffic and transportation rules, their lives can be saved from being in danger in case of an accident.
Process started on traffic police portal
According to the information received from the traffic police, about 17 lakh challans were issued in a period of five years, out of which 1.5 lakh challans have been deleted from the e-portal. The process of deleting the rest is also going on. At the same time, challans for about 30 thousand vehicles were issued by the Transport Department during this period. Work is being done on this also. ARTO Administration Dr. Siyaram Verma said that the application has to be written on a plain paper and submitted to the Transport Department. After this the process is started.

According to the Transport Department, the vehicle owner has to submit an application to the ARTO administration at the Assistant Divisional Transport Department office located in Sector-32 to cancel the challan. Applications can be submitted from 10 am to 5 pm on working days except Sunday.
