Traffic Rule: New traffic rules are being implemented in the city, a slight mistake and you will be fined Rs 1500

Noida New Traffic Rule: A new rule is going to be implemented soon to curb traffic jams and accidents in Noida. The traffic police says that a new rule will be implemented for changing lanes and breaking it will attract a fine of Rs 1500.

New Traffic Rule: Noida Traffic Police will soon enforce lane driving rules on three major roads to reduce traffic jams. Drivers who violate lane driving rules will be fined Rs 1,500. Sudden lane changes during morning and evening peak traffic increases the risk of jams and accidents. Noida Traffic Police has come up with this trick to curb this.

According to Times of India, the traffic police say that when a vehicle brakes slightly to change lanes, the vehicles behind it brake more quickly to avoid collision. This chain reaction often causes traffic to slow down or stop. Such sudden lane changes also increase the risk of sideswipe and rear-end collisions.

On which roads will the rule be applicable

The traffic police has said that these include the Charkha roundabout near Amity University, the road from Gardens Galleria Mall to Film City and the bird feeding point near Dalit Prerna Sthal. The Charkha roundabout on the Noida Expressway is heavily congested with traffic as vehicles coming from Sectors 125, 126, and 128 and those going towards Kalindi Kunj, Sarita Vihar, and Jamia Nagar meet here. This traffic merge increases the traffic pressure considerably.

Similarly, the bird feeding point near Dalit Prerna Sthal is frequented by vehicles headed towards Chilla Border, Film City flyover, Sector 18, and DLF Mall. Drivers often change lanes at the last minute, causing traffic congestion. The route between Gardens Galleria Mall and Film City is for commuters headed from Botanical Garden, GIP Mall, and Sector 18 towards Noida Expressway, Greater Noida, Chilla Border, and DND Flyover. This route too witnesses frequent lane changing incidents, causing traffic delays.

Lane changing spots will be decided

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Lakhan Singh Yadav said the identified stretches have heavy traffic throughout the day, which increases even more during peak hours. The Noida Authority will develop lane-changing zones about 500 metres before these points, where commuters will be able to change lanes. Cameras will also be installed to monitor violations and issue challans. Currently, the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) cameras on the expressway do not detect such violations. Officials revealed that efforts are on to update the system so that such monitoring is possible.

The rule will be applicable on other roads as well

The traffic police have not yet announced the exact date for enforcing lane discipline, but officials have indicated that if it is successful, similar measures may be implemented on other roads as well. On expressways, which have two-three lanes in each direction, the right lane is used for overtaking, the middle lane is for cars and the left lane is for heavy vehicles, said S Velmurugan, chief scientist at the Central Road Research Institute.
