TRAI New Rule: The telecom regulator is going to implement a new rule from October 1. This rule will be brought to improve the service quality of telecom operators. There is a provision of heavy penalty in case of violation of the rules.
From October 1, a new rule is being implemented to improve the service quality for telecom companies Airtel, BSNL, Jio and Vi. TRAI has made strict quality norms for telecom companies to improve 4G and 5G networks. Violating these can lead to heavy fines on companies. Apart from this, telecom operators have been strictly instructed to curb fake SMS and calls. This rule of TRAI was to come into effect from September 1.
The rule will come into effect from October 1
TRAI had decided to implement the new rule from October 1 on the demand of access service providers and other stakeholders. Also, telecom companies have been given a deadline to submit their compliance report by October 1. For this, the telecom regulator had a meeting with service providers on August 21 last month. The deadline for entering inputs in this meeting was set as August 27.

TRAI has recently issued a notification saying that no input has been filed by the service provider yet. Its date was already extended. According to TRAI’s norms, heavy fines will be imposed on telecom operators in case of not matching the benchmark. This also includes mobile service outage.
Submit reports in a fixed format
The telecom regulator said that wireless and wireline access service providers were asked to submit reports in a fixed format. They have to submit this report within 15 days after the quarter ends. After the new norms issued by TRAI, this format will be used to measure the quality of wireless and broadband service. Many users have complained to the regulator about call drops and quality of service. This scale will be brought to improve them. This regulation of TRAI is going to be implemented from October 1.
Heavy fine will be imposed
TRAI has also increased the amount of fine on operators who are unable to achieve Quality of Service (QoS). Earlier this fine was up to 50 thousand rupees, which has now been increased to 1 lakh rupees. Apart from this, the regulator has also decided to increase the amount of penalty on different things. This fine will be imposed if the service quality does not match or if the rules are violated.
