What is the rule regarding smoking now

Section 167 of the Railway Act states that any smoking (consumption of cigarette beedi etc.) in the train is a crime. On doing so, a heavy fine can be imposed.

If a person travels on a train by drinking alcohol or abuses, then action is taken against such persons under Section 145 of the Railway Act. There is also a provision for six months in jail and fine.

In the last few months, there were reports that there was a change in these rules. According to the English newspaper Times of India, the Cabinet Secretariat sent a proposal a few days ago asking for several crimes to be decriminalized. Railways can add many more mistakes to this list, for which the violator should be left with a fine.

How much will the fine be

If someone is caught smoking in the train. So he can be fined heavily. Usually a fine of 500 rupees is imposed. But it depends on the magistrate. If they find this crime serious, then the fine can also be increased.

Smoking on trains and stations will be expensive

This time on Holi, smoking in the train and station premises will prove to be expensive. During the security meeting, the Railway Minister expressed concern over the passengers and people who smoke in the train and premises.

He ordered that he should take proactive steps to stop the passengers smoking in trains and station premises. The Railway Minister said that smoking in trains is like risking the lives of other passengers.
