This means that you can also buy general train tickets through UPI. This service has been started at many railway stations in the country.
This rule of train ticket has changed
To relieve passengers from long queues at railway stations and taking another step towards Digital India, the Railways has decided that now online ticket facility will also be available at unreserved ticket counters at railway stations. This service has started for the people from April 1, 2024.
General tickets will be paid online
In this new service of railways, people will be able to make payment through QR code at the ticket counters present at the railway station. In this, payment can be made through major UPI modes like Paytm, Google Pay and Phone Pay.

With the promotion of digital payment by the railways, people going to get general tickets at the daily ticket counter will get a lot of relief. Digital payment through UPI will relieve people from the problem of carrying cash. Along with this, the time taken by the employee at the ticket counter to count the cash will be saved. People will get tickets in less time through digital payment, which will also promote complete transparency.
