TV Tariff Plan: Watching TV will be expensive after mobile recharge, now you will have to pay this much more; know the new rule of the government

TRAI has announced an increase in cable TV tariff and GST. This may make watching TV expensive in the coming days. Because the increased price can be passed on to the customers by the cable TV operator. Let us know how much the price will increase?

TV tariff Plan: In July this year, mobile recharge plans became expensive, after which Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea users were very angry and after this they shifted their connection to BSNL. However, now watching TV is going to be expensive. Actually, the central government has announced an increase in cable TV operator tariff and GST.

Demand to impose 5 percent GST instead of 18 on cable TV

However, this decision of the government has started being opposed in many parts of the country including Tamil Nadu. The central government’s rule of increasing the channel tariff and imposing 18% GST has started being opposed. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has increased the tariff of cable TV channels. Also, 18 percent GST is being imposed. But cable TV operators say that the GST rate should be 5 percent instead of 18 percent.

Government’s decision is being opposed

Chennai cable TV operators are opposing this rule of the government. AMMK founder TTV Dhinakaran has written a post on the social media platform regarding this matter. He has also put pressure on the government to withdraw the rule of imposing 18 percent GST.

Know how much the monthly expense will increase

The increase in GST will have a direct impact on the customers. Meaning, if the government imposes 18 percent GST on cable TV operators, then the increased price will be charged from the customers by the operator. In such a situation, if your monthly recharge is Rs 500, then you will have to pay Rs 90 more. On the same recharge of Rs 1000, you will have to pay Rs 180 extra. Similarly, on a recharge of Rs 1500, you will have to pay Rs 270 more. In such a situation, your monthly expenditure of users watching cable TV will increase. What is cable TV?

Actually, there are many modes of entertainment in India. Users watch movies and shows directly from OTT apps with the help of internet. Some people use wireless modes like Tata Sky and Dish TV. Some users watch TV and shows with the help of wireline, which is known as cable TV.
