Twitter removes Blue Tick from Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s personal account, may increase controversy

Blue tick badges from a Twitter account can be removed at any time without notice. If the username of an account is changed or the account becomes inactive or if a person ceases to hold the position for which his account was verified, then the blue tick badge can be removed.


New Delhi: Twitter on Saturday removed the blue tick badge from the official Twitter handle of Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu. This may increase the dispute between the Government of India and Twitter.

According to Twitter, the blue tick badge from the personal Twitter account of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu has been removed due to the account being inactive. Although some Twitter users have shared such screenshots, the account from which the blue tick badge has not been removed despite being inactive for more than 1 year.

According to the policy of social media platform Twitter, Twitter can remove the blue tick badge of any person at any time. Twitter does not care about the position of the person. Blue tick badge shows that the account is verified and it is the account of an important person for the society.

Let us tell you that to get the Twitter account verified, the account should be active, genuine and of some important person for the society. There are currently 6 types of accounts on Twitter. These include accounts of government companies, brands, NGOs, news channels, journalists, people associated with entertainment and sports, activists, organizers and other important people.

According to Twitter, the blue tick badge from an account can be removed at any time without giving any notice. If the username of an account is changed or the account becomes inactive or if a person ceases to hold the position for which his account was verified, then the blue tick badge can be removed.


Apart from this, the blue tick badge can also be removed from the Twitter account when someone repeatedly violates the rules of Twitter. This includes inciting violence, abusing, glorifying violence, spreading fake news and harming sovereignty, etc.
