UGC New Rule: UGC i.e. University Grant Commission has fixed the minimum criteria for the post of Assistant Professor. UGC has given this information through news agency ANI. Giving information, the UGC said that the minimum criteria for direct recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor has been fixed for all higher education institutions.

According to the new notification, it will be necessary to pass NET or SET or SLET as the minimum qualification for the post of Assistant Professor. Candidates who clear these exams will be directly hired for the post of Assistant Professor. According to UGC, these rules have been implemented from 1 July 2023.

Changes related to 2021 appointments canceled
Making changes in the UGC Regulation 2018, the rules regarding the appointment of Assistant Professor in universities and colleges have been changed. Now they have been changed under UGC Regulation 2023. As per the new rules, the minimum criteria for the post of Assistant Professor in all Higher Academic Institutes has become NET or SET or SLET. At the same time, the changes related to the appointment made in the year 2021 have also been canceled.
