New Delhi. Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child is run by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for girls to get higher education easily. It aims to recognize the value of adhering to the norms of the small family and to support the education of single girls in postgraduate courses. Without brothers or twin daughters or feternal daughters can apply for this scholarship scheme. In this, Rs 36,200 is given per year for two years.
Eligibility for Scholarship
- Applicant should be the only daughter under Indira Gandhi Scholarship Scheme.
- Twin children can apply for the scholarship.
- If there is one son and one daughter in the family, then the daughter will not be considered eligible for this scholarship.
- Under the Indira Gandhi Scholarship Scheme, only single girls pursuing PG courses can apply.
- Applicant’s age should not be more than 30 years at the time of application.
- Girls studying under distance education cannot apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship is available for two years
Under this scholarship , girls are given 3000 rupees every month for two years. Girls are selected for the scholarship on the basis of merit.
