It has to be noted that at present, Aadhaar is one of the most important documents to prove one’s identity. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issues a verifiable 12-digit identification number to the residents of the country which is the Aadhaar.

Recently, Aadhaar has tweeted from its official Twitter handle informing that the Aadhaar enrolment status of a person can be known simply by dialing toll free number 1947. The tweet said, “Call 1947 or write to us at help@uidai.gov.in to know the status of your Aadhaar Enrolment. You would need to enter your EID (Including date & time). This facility is also available online at: resident.uidai.gov.in/check-aadhaar or in your #mAadhaarApp.”

One must note the facility to check the Aadhaar enrolment status is also available online. In order to do so, one will require the EID (Enrolment ID). The EID is displayed on the top of the enrolment/update acknowledgement slip and contains 14-digit enrolment number (1234/12345/12345) and the 14-digit date and time (dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss) of enrolment. These 28 digits together form the Enrolment ID (EID).

Now, in order to check the Aadhaar status online, one has to login to resident.uidai.gov.in/check-aadhaar. Then one has to enter the EID in the space provided for entering the EID and then one has to enter the verification captcha. Finally, one has to click on the ‘Check Status’ button.

A person can also check his or her Aadhaar enrolment status by using the mAadhaar mobile app as well.
