New Delhi.Unclaimed deposits in the country have increased by 28 percent in FY23 as compared to FY22.The government itself has given this information in the winter session of Parliament.
The government recently reported that the total unclaimed deposits with banks are Rs 42,270 crore, which is 28 percent more than last year’s figures.Out of Rs 42,270 crore, Rs 36,185 crore is in government banks and Rs 6,087 crore is in private banks.
What is unclaimed deposit?
If any savings or current account has not been operated for the last 10 years or if 10 years have passed since the maturity date of any FD and no claimant has come, then such property is called unclaimed deposit.
RBI’s Udgham portal will help
The Udgam portal of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) helps you to view information related to unclaimed deposits. The Udgam website has been created in collaboration with Reserve Bank of India Information Technology Private Limited (ReBIT), Indian Financial Technology and Allied Services (IFTAS), and partner institutions.
Let us tell you that till now 30 banks have given information about unclaimed deposits on the Udgam website of RBI.
How to view unclaimed deposit information on Udgam portal
First of all you have to go to the Udgam portal and log in. If you have not registered on Udgam portal then you have to register yourself first.
To register, you will have to register yourself by providing mobile number, your name, password, captcha, clicking on I Agree and I Declare box.
After registering, you will be logged in and will be able to search unclaimed deposits from 30 banks present on this website.
