The UP government is going to provide cheap houses to the poor as well as registry facility on a stamp of Rs 500.
The special thing is that this benefit will be given on allotment of houses of old vacant houses along with new ones. The proposal of the housing department has been agreed upon in the meeting of the high officials and soon there is a plan to get this proposal passed by the cabinet. It is believed that before the assembly elections to be held next year in the state, this big gift will be given to the poor by the government.
The state government wants that along with the Housing Development Council and Development Authority, the facility of getting the EWS houses to be built by private builders should also be done on a stamp of Rs 500. This will clear the way for the poor to get cheap houses. The Housing Department had sought a list of such houses from the development authorities across the state. About 7000 such houses have been identified. The number of EWS houses built in Lucknow, Bareilly, Varanasi, Basti, Kushinagar, Kapilvastu and Sonbhadra is yet to be ascertained. The Housing Department believes that by giving the facility of registry on a stamp of Rs 500, big relief can be given to the poor.
The Housing Department believes that taking advantage of the schemes of the government, builders keep the price and allotment according to the government standard, but according to its registry price, it is at seven or five percent stamp duty. Due to this the poor are not getting the benefits of government schemes properly. That is why the registration of EWS houses constructed by taking advantage of the schemes of the Housing Department should also be done on a stamp of Rs 500. This facility will be given after the proposal is passed by the cabinet. According to an estimate, the stamp department will suffer a loss of Rs 15 crore.
