Maruti Suzuki has been leading the Indian automotive industry since its inception. And one of the major reasons behind their success is the highly fuel efficient model lineup. In order to maintain its lead in future, the company is also focusing on new technologies and electric mobility solutions. Recently, the carmaker brought in its first strong hybrid vehicle under collaboration with Toyota – the Maruti Grand Vitara. The Indo-Japanese automaker has planned four new models with the strong hybrid tech that will hit roads in 2023-24. Here’re some key details of the upcoming Maruti strong hybrid cars.
New Maruti 7-Seater MPV
Maruti’s upcoming 7-seater MPV will be based on the Toyota Innova Hycross. The model is likely to witness a market launch during this year’s festive season. A few design changes will differentiate both models, while their platform, features and powertrains will be the same. The new 7-seater Maurti will come with the 2.0L Atkinson cycle and 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine options. While the strong hybrid delivers power worth 184bhp with an e-Drive transmission, the gasoline unit promises 172bhp with 205Nm. It will be the most expensive offering from the Indo-Japanese automaker with an estimated price range of Rs 20 lakh – Rs 30 lakh.
New Maruti 7-Seater SUV
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to foray into the highly-competitive 7-seater SUV segment towards the end of this year. The model will be based on the Grand Vitara, but have more cabin space to accommodate an extra row of seat. It will also be longer than its donor sibling. Built on the Global C platform, the new Maruti 7-seater SUV will be made available with the 1.5L K15C petrol milt hybrid and 1.5L Atkinson cycle strong hybrid powertrains. The strong hybrid version will return a maximum power of 115bhp and a fuel efficiency of 27.97kmpl.
New-Generation Maruti Swift and DZire
The new-generation Maruti Swift and Dzire are among the much-awaited upcoming Maruti strong hybrid cars. If reports are to be believed, both models will get a new 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine benefited with Toyota’s strong hybrid tech. The all-new new Swift and Dzire are reported to deliver an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 35-40kmpl. If this happens, these will be the most fuel economical vehicles in India. The new powertrain setup will also be the CAFÉ II (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) complaint. The next-gen Swift and Dzire will hit roads sometime next year.
