ICICI Bank: Till now NRI customers had to add Indian mobile number to their account for UPI payment. Now it will no longer be needed in 10 countries.

ICICI Bank: India is currently trying to take its UPI services to the whole world. Agreements have already been reached in this regard with many countries. Apart from this, many other countries are ready to start UPI service in their countries. In this sequence, ICICI Bank has taken steps to provide this service easily to Indians settled abroad. NRI customers of ICICI Bank will now be able to use their international mobile numbers for UPI payments in India.

Will be able to pay utility bill easily

ICICI Bank said on Monday that NRI customers will now be able to easily pay utility bills like electricity and water. Besides, merchant and e-commerce transactions can also be done. For this, he will be able to use the International Bank Number registered in NRE Account and NRO Account of ICICI Bank. The bank has started this service through its mobile banking app iMobile Pay. Till now NRIs had to register their Indian mobile numbers for UPI payments.

This service started in 10 countries

The bank said that to start this service, the international infrastructure set up by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has been taken advantage of. The bank will provide this service in 10 countries. These include America, Britain, UAE, Canada, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Now NRI customers of the bank will be able to send money to the bank account using UPI ID, mobile number by scanning any Indian QR code.

This service will run with the help of NPCI

Siddharth Mishra, Digital Channel and Partnership Head of the bank said that we are very excited to start this facility in collaboration with NPCI. Now Indians living in these 10 countries will not need to register Indian mobile number in their account.
