UPI scams are happening in these three ways, if you make even a small mistake, your bank account will be emptied

Due to the increasing trend of online payments, cyber attackers constantly try new ways of scamming. Let us tell you about the three most common UPI scams and know how to avoid them.

UPI apps have become the easiest way to make online payments these days and crores of digital payments are being made daily through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). This is the reason why cyber attackers are also on the lookout to cheat users. Every day, attempts are made to do UPI scams through different methods and tricks, so you should be alert. Let us tell you what kind of UPI scams are happening the most these days and how to stay safe from them.

UPI PIN to receive money

Many such cases have come to light when users are lured in different ways and are told that a large amount is being sent to them through UPI. Often this type of scam happens on call and the caller asks you to authenticate the amount being transferred to you by entering the UPI PIN. As soon as the PIN is entered, instead of the money coming into the account, the amount is deducted from the account.

Remember, you do not have to enter the UPI PIN to receive any kind of payment. You should enter the PIN only when you want to pay someone.

Claim of sending money to the account by mistake and asking for it back

It is possible that you have received a message related to sending money to the account, in which an unknown person claims that he has sent a large amount to your account by mistake. He mentions his mistake and asks for the money back and explains his helplessness. Many times the screenshots shared by him are fake and no money is credited to your account. Instead of returning the money to someone in a hurry, you can send the money from your account to him yourself.

First of all, if someone claims to send money to the account, do not trust him immediately and do not show any haste in returning the money. First of all, decide whether the money has really come to your bank account or not and only then take any decision.

Fake UPI apps help in cheating

There are many such apps available on third-party websites and stores, which are completely fake but with their help the successful status of any payment can be shown. For example, after scanning the QR code, these apps show ‘Payment Successful’ status on the screen. In such a situation, it seems that the amount has been sent but it is not done. In such a situation, always confirm whether the amount has reached your account or not.
