Today NPC has made an important announcement regarding UPI. NPC said that now payments can be made through Unified Payment Interface (UPI) in Nepal also. According to the official statement of NPC, now UPI users can scan QR code to make payments to Nepali merchants.
In September 2023, an agreement was signed between National Payments Corporation of India International Payments (NIPL) and Nepal’s largest payment network Fonepay Payment Service.
NPC said in its statement that after the partnership with First Face, Indian consumers can use UPI based apps like Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay etc. to pay online through UPI at many business stores in Nepal.
