Due to the rail blockade, many trains had to be cancelled and many trains have been diverted via the alternate route of Fakiragram-Golakganj-New Cooch Behar. Adequate number of buses and Tata Sumo vehicles have been arranged by the NF Railway authorities for the convenience of passengers affected by the diversion.
Vande Bharat: The movement of several trains was affected on Wednesday due to a rail blockade by the Greater Cooch Behar People’s Association (GCPA) at Jorai railway station of Alipurduar division in Bihar’s Araria district. The protesters reached Jorai station around 6:45 am and started demonstrating and by 8 am more than 5000 protesters had gathered at the station and blocked all the lines. The NF Railway in coordination with the state authorities has ensured deployment of more than 500 personnel of RPF, GRP and local police at the station to prevent any untoward incident.
Let us tell you that this association has been demanding the creation of a separate state named Greater Cooch Behar for the last several years. The association has protested by stopping the train for this demand.
