Indian Railways is going to start a new Vande Bharat Express train for Jammu and Kashmir soon. This train will run between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) and Srinagar railway station.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Srinagar-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express will be the first semi-high speed train for the Kashmir Valley. At the same time, this is the third Vande Bharat train for Jammu. Earlier, New Delhi-SMVD Katra (22439/22440) and SMVD Katra-New Delhi (22478/22477) Vande Bharat trains have been run.
100 km distance in 2 hours 30 minutes
Developed by Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF), this train will cover the distance of about 100 km from Katra to Srinagar in less than 2 hours 30 minutes. Currently, there is no direct train service available between these two major cities of Jammu and Kashmir, so Vande Bharat Express will completely change rail travel in this region.
According to a report by ET Now, this train will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra station at 8:10 am and reach Srinagar at 11:20 am. On the return journey, this train will depart from Srinagar at 12:45 pm and reach Katra at 3:55 pm. The train will be operational under the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project.
The train will run six days a week
Currently, the zonal railway is conducting trial runs between the Katra-Riyasi section of the USBRL project. After the completion of the trial run, the Railway Safety Commissioner (CRS) will review various track works. After this, the launch date will be decided after getting approval from the CRS.
According to the report, the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express train will not have a dynamic fare structure. Apart from this, the composition of the train has also not been decided yet. However, it is expected that this train will have 8, 16 or 20 coaches. The train will run six days a week.
The fare or ticket prices of the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express train have not been decided yet. It is expected that the fare from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Srinagar and Srinagar to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra may be around Rs 1500-1600 for AC chair car and Rs 2200-2500 for executive chair car.
