The name of the country’s first Vande Metro has been changed a few hours before the inauguration. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually flag off this service in Gujarat on Monday i.e. today. Earlier, the Railway Ministry decided to change the name of the train. This rapid rail will cover a total distance of 359 km between Bhuj in Gujarat and Ahmedabad.
Vande Metro: The Vande Metro, which is ready to run between Bhuj and Ahmedabad in Gujarat, was renamed a few hours before its inauguration. Now this metro will be known as Namo Bharat Rapid Rail. A railway spokesperson shared this information on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually flag off the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail at 4:15 pm on Monday.
Rapid Rail will stop at nine stations
This train will cover the distance of 359 km from Bhuj to Ahmedabad in 5:45 hours. During this time the train will stop at nine stations. The aim of Rapid Rail is to increase intercity connectivity. Common people will be able to avail this service from Ahmedabad from September 17. The total fare for the journey will be Rs 455.
There will be connectivity around Ahmedabad
Railway spokesperson informed that the ministry has decided to change the name of Vande Metro to Namo Bharat Rapid Rail. According to the Railway Ministry, other metros cover only short distances. But Namo Bharat train will connect Ahmedabad to nearby cities.
Rapid Rail has a total of 12 coaches
This Rapid Rail will be equipped with many new technologies. It will have a total of 12 coaches and a seating capacity of 1150 passengers. Rapid Rail is different from other metros. This service will provide the facility of fast travel between cities.
