Vande Metro: Indian Railways is soon bringing Vande Metro for short distance premium travel. Vande Metro is all set to hit the tracks in the year 2024. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had announced Vande Metro Project in Budget 2023. Vande Metro, inspired by the Vande Bharat Express train, will provide passengers with a superfast AC travel option for short distances at speeds of up to 130 kmph.
The train is being designed to cover a distance of 300 kilometers.
Speaking to Economic Times, ICF General Manager BG Mallya said that Vande Metro trains are being designed for a distance of up to 300 kilometres. Vande Metro is being brought to replace the mainline EMUs. He told that this train will be for short distance journey of 250 to 300 kilometers. BG Mallya said that the manufacturing of the country’s first Vande Metro train has started, ICF aims to start this train in 2024.
Each coach will have seating for 100 passengers
According to BG Mallya, Vande Metro will have all the major facilities like Vande Bharat Express. He told that the biggest difference between Vande Bharat Express train and Vande Metro will be that there will be an option to travel while standing. BG Mallya said that each coach of Vande Metro will have seating for 100 passengers. Apart from this, 200 passengers will be able to travel standing in each compartment of this train.
