Vehicle Driver Attention! Now challan will be issued for driving old vehicles, Know new rules

Due to the increasing pollution in Delhi NCR and Noida, the life of the people living here has become miserable. Recently, Noida Police has started a campaign for 15 days, after which challan will be issued for vehicles that are so many years old.

New Delhi: People of Noida and Delhi-NCR should be alert. In view of the increasing pollution in Delhi-NCR and Noida, Noida administration has become alert again this time. Noida Police has started a campaign for 15 days from October 17.

In this, huge challans will be issued to vehicles that do not follow the rules of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) related to pollution.

On which vehicles will challan be issued?

After issuing the order by Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh, now along with traffic police, general police everywhere will also get involved in this campaign. In this, challan will be issued for diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years.

Besides, vehicles whose pollution certificate is not complete will also have to pay heavy fines. The instructions of the Revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) will be strictly followed in NCR.

When will it start

A 15-day campaign is being run in Noida Police Commissionerate which will start from October 17. Along with checking of vehicles, action will be taken against those who burn stubble and spread other air pollution.

To enforce the rules of GRAP, six teams have been formed under the leadership of Traffic Inspector under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Traffic I and II. Action will also be taken as per rules at the zone level in Commissionerate Gautam Buddha Nagar.

Delhi-NCR AQI

The air quality in Delhi has improved after light rain in the national capital on Monday night. According to the data, AQI was recorded at 63 on Lodhi Road,

AQI was recorded at 56 at Delhi airport (T3), AQI at 45 at IIT Delhi. Noida, Mathura Road, IIT Delhi recorded ‘good’ air quality with AQI 37.

What is GRAP?

The Graded Response Action Plan is a set of emergency measures. It is implemented to prevent deterioration in air quality (AQI) after reaching the prescribed limit in Delhi-NCR.

It was notified in the year 2017 after an order of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had given this decision while hearing SC Mehta vs Union of India.

The Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority appointed by the Supreme Court had ordered to implement the Graded Response Action Plan by the year 2020. Later it was dissolved and the Air Quality Management Commission came into existence in the year 2020.
