If you are driving BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel cars in Delhi, then leave them from today and make a habit of traveling in public vehicles, because the Transport Department has banned these cars in Delhi. Immediately after the order of implementation of GRAP-3 rules, Deputy Commissioner of Transport Department Yogesh Jain issued an order in this regard on Saturday.
The order states that if a BS-3 petrol or BS-4 diesel four-wheeler is found running, a fine of Rs 20,000 will be imposed on its owner. There are 2,07,038 BS-3 petrol and 3,09,225 BS-4 diesel cars in Delhi.
Petrol-diesel car should not be so old
BS-3 petrol i.e. petrol cars registered before April 1, 2010 and BS-4 diesel cars registered before April 1, 2020 will not be able to run in Delhi. The Transport Department has deployed 114 teams to take action against these cars.
There is no ban on such vehicles
However, vehicles deployed for emergency services and vehicles engaged in government work will not come under the purview of this ban. A total of five lakh such cars are registered in Delhi, by which people of Delhi and NCR region travel. These cars will not be able to run from today.
This is the reason for imposing the ban
The ban on these cars has also been imposed because a study has revealed that the share of vehicles in the total pollution in Delhi is close to 40 percent.
In view of the continuously increasing pollution in Delhi, the National Air Quality Commission has directed to promote public vehicles running on electric and CNG in Delhi and NCR region.
