Some people were seen collecting the water in cups, while some were seen drinking it with their hands thinking it to be holy water. Some devotees also splashed the water on their heads as a mark of reverence. However, according to reports, this water flowing from the elephant-shaped outlet in the temple architecture was not Charan Amrit, but water coming out of the AC
In Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, devotees gathered under an elephant-shaped structure in a temple and started drinking the water dripping from it thinking it to be ‘charan amrit’ or the holy water from the feet of Lord Krishna. A video of the devotees drinking this water has since gone viral on social media and people are giving different reactions to it. The video that is now going viral shows devotees drinking water dripping from an elephant-shaped spout on the wall of the Shri Banke Bihari temple.
While some were seen collecting the water in cups, others were seen drinking it with their hands thinking it to be holy water. Some devotees even splashed the water on their heads as a symbol of devotion. However, according to reports, this water flowing from the elephant-shaped outlet in the temple architecture was not charan amrit but water coming out of the AC.
The entire incident was recorded on his phone by a visitor to the temple. In the video, he can be heard telling the devotees that this is not the water from Lord Krishna’s feet but the water from the AC.

He tells a woman seen in the video, “Didi, this is AC water, not the water from the feet of Lord Krishna. The temple priests here have confirmed this.”
People gave different reactions
Despite knowing this, the devotees smiled and walked away. The devotee, who was making a video of other people standing in the queue outside the temple, warned against drinking the water. He said that because it is AC water, it may be unsafe and cause illness.
A person on the video said, “Who knew that a small AC could turn into a divine experience? Just wait till they start calling it heavenly hydration!”
“This can only happen in India,” said another.
“At least the temple trust could have put up a notice to warn people,” commented a third. “They have faith. Let them do it,” wrote a fourth.
A similar incident happened in Mumbai in 2012, when water started dripping from the feet of a statue of Jesus Christ. Devotees initially thought it was a miracle. However, Indian rationalist Sanal Edamaruku investigated and debunked the claim. He said that the water was actually leaking from a blocked drainage pipe and not holy water.
