Video of acid attack on girl student surfaced in Delhi, victim’s condition critical

The victim’s father told that the girl’s face has been burnt with acid, the condition is critical. Who were those boys, where did they come from, I do not know anything.

Two bike-borne boys today threw acid on a 17-year-old girl in south-west Delhi’s Dwarka area, leaving her seriously injured and admitted to a hospital. The girl’s father told the media that the daughter’s condition is serious and the acid went on the daughter’s face and also in her eyes. Police said the girl has identified two suspects and one of them has been taken into custody.

The shocking incident has been captured in a CCTV camera, in which two girls can be seen walking on the side of the road, when a bike slows down and a boy sitting behind throws acid on the 17-year-old student. After this, she is seen running hither and thither holding her face in extreme pain.

The girl’s father told the media, “My two daughters (one 17 years old and the other 13 years old) had gone out together this morning. Suddenly two bike-borne men threw acid on my elder daughter and left. He covered his face.”

When asked whether his daughter has complained of harassment by anyone, the father said that no, she has not. If I had, I would have been with her everywhere. The sisters used to go to school together in the metro. NDTV also spoke to the girl’s mother. He also said that the daughter did not talk about being harassed by anyone at home.

Expressing concern over the incident, Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal questioned why the sale of acid cannot be banned so that such heinous crimes can be stopped. He tweeted, “Two goons threw acid on a schoolgirl in broad daylight in the nation’s capital. Does anyone still fear the law? Why can’t the sale of acid be banned? Shameful.” In another post, he said that acid is easily available like vegetables and questioned why the government is not banning its retail sale. She said that the Delhi Women’s Commission has been demanding this ban for years, “When will the governments wake up?”
