A video posted on Twitter by BJP leader Babul Supriyo shows a woman being thrashed in full public view for allegedly having an affair. “Is this the Bengal of our dreams?” asked Supriyo.
BJP leader Babul Supriyo took to Twitter on Thursday to post a video showing a woman being thrashed in full public view. Babul Supriyo alleged that the woman was assaulted for allegedly having an affair.
In a video of the incident posted by BJP leader Babul Supriyo, a group of men and women can be seen surrounding a woman who is crying for help. Some women can even be seen dragging her by her hair. A group of women then hold her down as others chop off her hair using a pair of scissors.
What is even more shocking is that the assault can be seen taking place in broad daylight and not even a single person comes forward to rescue the woman. At the same time, several men and women can be seen recording the heinous act on camera.

Posting the video of the assault, Babul Supriyo tweeted, “Atrocities against women of Bengal continue from Moynaguri to Kumargram, as politically biased authorities turn a blind eye… Now a woman has been physically assaulted in front of the whole village for allegedly having an affair…Is this the Bengal of our dreams?”
However, BJP leader Babul Supriyo did not mention where and when the alleged incident took place.
Earlier this week, a similar incident came to light from West Bengal’s Alipurduar district where a tribal woman was dragged out of her home and paraded naked by a group of villagers on suspicion of having an extra-marital affair. According to reports, six out of the 11 accused were arrested in connection with the case after a video of the incident surfaced online.
