Vistara Airlines announced to reduce flights by 25-30 per day, said this regarding pilot’s salary

Vistara Airlines: Vistara Airlines issued a statement saying that under the terms of the new contract to be implemented in April, Vistara pilots will now be paid a fixed salary for 40 hours instead of the previous 70 hours.

Vistara Airlines Update: Amid operational challenges, Vistara Airlines on Sunday announced carefully planned reduction in its flight operations. It has been decided by Vistara Airlines that approximately 25-30 flights will be reduced per day, which is approximately 10 percent of the airline’s capacity compared to previous levels.

Flights are getting canceled for several days

The move, said a Vistara spokesperson, is aimed at bringing the airline’s flight operations back to levels comparable to the end of February 2024. With these cuts, Vistara seeks to strengthen its roster management and ensure a more robust and sustainable operating structure. Recently, several flights were canceled after pilots took mass leave in protest against the terms of the new contract following the airline’s decision to merge with Air India.

Said this about salary

Under the terms of the new contract, which will come into force in April, Vistara pilots will now be paid a fixed salary for 40 hours instead of the previous 70 hours. This change is in line with the standardized pay structure adopted in Tata Group airlines. Vistara Airlines, which is facing shortage of pilots, is continuously canceling its flights. Passengers are facing a lot of difficulties due to cancellation of flights.

98 percent pilots signed new contracts

Vistara Airlines, which is facing operational problems, hopes that the situation will become normal by May. A few days ago, Vistara Airlines CEO Vinod Kannan had issued a statement saying that 98 percent of the pilots have signed the new contract. At the same time, by this weekend all the operations of April will be stable. According to Vistara, there has been no clear increase in the tendency of pilots to leave their jobs due to the new contract. At the same time, the situation related to OTP has improved in the last three days. The senior official said the airline is in talks with them to address the concerns and more than 98 percent of the pilots have signed the new contract. The airline is rapidly dealing with the current developments and new pilots are being appointed. The CEO said that the company is now working on the time table of May and the company expects normal operations by May.

One thousand pilots in Vistara

Vistara, the joint venture between Tata and Singapore Airlines, has a total of 6,500 employees, including 1,000 pilots and 2,500 crew members. Sources had said that a section of pilots have expressed concerns about the new contract, which will lead to a revision in salaries. In protest against the revised salary structure, a section of pilots have taken leave after reporting being ill for the last few days.
