Vivo T2 5G series : Vivo’s latest Vivo T2 series will launch in India today, April 11. The new smartphone will be unveiled during a virtual event at 12 PM and fans can watch the live stream for free on Vivo India’s official YouTube channel. Ahead of the launch, the company has revealed the Vivo T2 series colour and design. The lineup includes the Vivo T2 and a toned-down Vivo T2x. Both smartphones support 5G.
Vivo will unveil the Vivo T2 and Vivo T2x today, though it is likely that the actual sale will begin later. The phones will retail via Flipkart and Vivo India’s official channel.
The Vivo T2’s official Flipkart listing reveals that the phone will come with a Full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 360Hz touch sampling rate and 1300 nits peak brightness. On the back, there’s a 64-megapixel primary camera with OIS and EIS support to offer crisp and stable videos and photos. There’s also going to be a 2-megapixel bokeh camera, but no ultra-wide camera lens.
On the front, the Vivo T2 will have the selfie camera inside a waterdrop-style notch.
Under the hood, there’s going to be a Snapdragon 695 SoC from Qualcomm powering the smartphone. The same SoC (system on chip) features on several entry-level mid-budget smartphones, such as Redmi Note 12 and OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G. Other key features will be revealed at the launch event today.
Going by the specifications, it appears the Vivo T2 will cost under Rs 25,000 in India.
The Vivo T2x could cost less, likely between Rs 17,000 to Rs 20,000. Based on rumours and leaks, the T2x will also have a similar camera configuration, though it might exclude OIS. This model could be powered by Dimensity’s Dimensity 700 SoC, which was once a go-to SoC for OEMs to unlock 5G on phones under Rs 20,000. Details regarding battery are not yet clear but the phones might get 44W fast charging support — similar to the Vivo T1 44W from last year. Vivo may add a 5,000mAh battery unit on both phones.
With the Vivo T2 series, the company will hope to rival Xiaomi, which launched the Redmi Note 12 series earlier this year. At the same time, it will price the phone accordingly to not overlap with its sister brand iQOO.
Vivo promises its upcoming phones to be “made in India” to align with the government’s push for a self-reliant (Aatmanirbha) nation.
