Warranty from Installation: The government has asked companies to make an important change in the process regarding warranty of various white goods, so that customers will now get the benefit of more warranty…
The government has given a big relief to the consumers. In case of various white goods like TV, Fridge, AC, Washing Machine etc., now customers will get the benefit of more warranty on purchase. For this, the government has asked the companies to make necessary changes in the warranty process.
The government has given this instruction
According to the report of news agency PTI, the government has asked the companies manufacturing white goods to amend their guarantee and warranty policy. The government says that the warranty should not start from the date of sale of the goods. Instead, the warranty should start from the date of installation.
Letter sent to these companies
According to the report, Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh has written a letter to many white goods manufacturing companies and industry organizations in this regard. Those to whom the letter has been written by the government include 6 industry organizations like CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM and PHDCCI. Apart from them, companies like Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Blue Star, Kent, Whirlpool, Voltas, Bosch, Havells, Philips, Toshiba, Daikin, Sony, Hitachi, IFB, Godrej, Haier, Eureka Forbes and Lloyd have also received the government letter.
Lots of sales happening during festivals
The government has taken this important initiative to amend the guarantee and warranty on white goods at a time when the demand for these goods is at its peak in the country. Generally, every year around Diwali, the demand for white goods like TV, AC, fridge, washing machine etc. is at its peak in the festive season sale. Due to this intervention of the government, customers purchasing such goods are going to directly benefit from higher warranty.
This is the loss for the customers right now
The government says that white goods are such items which need to be installed by experts. Unless they are installed by experts, such items remain unused with customers. In such a situation, when the warranty period starts from the date of sale, the customers suffer unnecessary time loss. For this reason, companies should start the warranty from the date of installation.
