Weather Today: Get ready for heavy rains, IMD predicts heavy rains for these 8 states

India Weather Today: Rains continue in different parts of the country. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh till August 26. Due to incessant rains, the water level of rivers in Bihar has also reached above the danger mark.

New Delhi: The effect of the south-west monsoon is being seen in many states of the country. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in several states till August 26. According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh. IMD has issued a yellow alert for Himachal Pradesh on Friday. The weather office also said that there is a possibility of heavy rains in some districts of the state. ​Due to the rains in the Terai areas of Bihar and Nepal, an increase in the water level of the main rivers of the state is being recorded. Several rivers are above the danger mark at various places. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of rain in many areas of the state in the next 24 hours.

After the rains of the last few days in Delhi, it is expected to be sunny again. In such a situation, people will have to face the humid heat. The Meteorological Department says that it is expected to remain cloudy in Delhi in the coming five days. The Meteorological Department has clearly said that there is no forecast of rain in the coming days.

Himachal: Rain till 30 August

The period of devastation due to rain continues in Himachal. IMD scientist Sandeep Kumar Sharma told news agency ANI that heavy rain is expected in parts of Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi, Kullu, Una, Bilaspur and Kangra districts. Himachal Pradesh received heavy rains thrice this monsoon. The local meteorological office has issued a warning of heavy rain on Friday. Along with this, it is expected to rain in the state till August 30. Firstly, on July 9 and 10, large-scale devastation took place in Mandi and Kullu districts. In the second round, Shimla and Solan districts were affected on August 14 and 15. In the third round, Shimla city suffered a heavy loss on Tuesday night.

It will rain in UP, Uttarakhand

It is expected to rain in UP and Uttarakhand in the coming days. The IMD has predicted heavy rain at isolated places over Uttarakhand as well as East Uttar Pradesh on August 25. In addition, light to moderate/scattered rain is likely over rest parts of northwest India during the week.

Rain from Bengal to Bihar, Jharkhand as well

Rains will continue in many states of East India. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand on August 24 and 25, 2023, during August 24-26. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Bihar on 25 August.

Clouds will also rain in Odisha

Odisha is receiving heavy rains due to Southwest Monsoon. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in the state till August 26. The state has so far recorded 760.2 mm of rainfall from June 1 to August 24 against the normal of 838.8 mm. Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendura, Cuttack, Jagdalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkal, Kendujhar, Mayureshwar, Bolangir, Boudh, Kalahandi till 8:30 am on Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Yellow alert has been issued for Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Ganjam and Puri districts.

Heavy to very heavy rain forecast in Northeast India

Scattered heavy rainfall is likely over Northeast India during most of the week. Very heavy rainfall is likely over Assam and Meghalaya for the next two days and over Arunachal Pradesh on August 25. The IMD has also predicted light to moderate scattered rain over the rest of south peninsular India during the week. Moreover, the Meteorological Department has predicted for the next week August 31-September 6 that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over most parts of East and Northeast India. It also said that scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls is also likely over parts of south peninsular India during the week. During the week, it was near normal over most parts of south peninsular India (except Maharashtra) and below normal over rest of the country.
