On August 2, extremely heavy rains may occur at one or two places in Jashpur, Balrampur, Raigarh and Korba districts and heavy rains may occur in Surguja, Surajpur, Pendra and Bilaspur. A red alert has been issued for the next 3 days due to heavy rains.
Chhattisgarh Weather Alert Today: The weather patterns are likely to remain the same in Chhattisgarh. There is no indication of any change till August 4-5. There will be no increase in the maximum temperature as well. Today on Tuesday, along with cloudy sky, there will be light to moderate rain in different areas of the state. Also, lightning may occur along with heavy rainfall in some areas. Since June 1 till now, the state has received about 11 per cent less rainfall than normal. Out of this, Surguja received the least and Raipur received more than normal rainfall.
Multiple weather systems active at once
CG meteorologist HP Chandra said that a marked low-pressure area lies over the center of North Bay of Bengal and an upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to 9.5 km height with it. It is likely to move in the northwest direction and intensify into a depression in the next 12 hours. The western end of the monsoon trough lies in the foothills of the Himalayas and the eastern end passes through the low pressure area of Darbhanga, Deogarh, Kaning, south-east to the Bay of East-Central Bengal. Under the influence of all these weather systems, the state A warning of lightning accompanied by moderate to heavy rain has been issued in several districts of the state.
New system will be active in 24 hours
Meteorologist HP Chandra said that a low pressure area is located in the middle of the North Bay of Bengal and it is likely to intensify into a depression today while moving in the northwest direction, due to which there will be light rain in different areas of the state on Tuesday. There will be moderate rain. Along with this, there is a possibility of heavy rains in some areas. Due to the strengthening of the same system, there may be very heavy rains at one or two places in Jashpur, Balrampur, Raigarh and Korba districts and heavy rains in Sarguja Surajpur, Pendra and Bilaspur on August 2. A red alert has been issued for the next 3 days due to heavy rains.
Where did it rain
- Surguja has received an average rainfall of 207.2 mm so far, leading to a drought-like situation. Surajpur in North Chhattisgarh has received only 347.4 mm of rain.
- Average rainfall has been recorded in Balrampur 326.1 mm, Bemetara 367.9 mm, Janjgir 341.2 mm, Jashpur 327 mm, Kabirdham 298.2 mm, Kondagaon 408.5 mm, Korba 436.mm, Korea 433.5 mm and Raigarh 433.6 mm. Which is much less than normal.
- Bijapur district has received 1022.9 mm more rain than normal. Balod has received an average of 640.5 mm, Raipur 643.8 mm, Rajnandgaon 583.8 mm, Sukma 812.3 mm, which is above normal.
