Weather Update: A new phase of heat is going to start in north-western India from Wednesday. Heat is going to trouble many states including Delhi for the next one week. Till now, the temperature had remained at normal level due to pre-monsoon rains and rain due to western disturbance. But gradually the sun has started showing its strength.

Five days alert issued

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for the next five days expressing the fear of heat wave. During this period, the temperature in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and eastern part of Rajasthan may remain between 40-44 degrees. Heat wave may prevail between May 15 and May 17.

Chance of rain and strong storm

According to the Meteorological Department, the parts of western part of Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar where rain activities are currently being seen will also not remain untouched by the increasing heat. Hot winds will blow in Saurashtra and Kutch. Winds can blow at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour in the plains of Uttar Pradesh and South. However, during this period, there is a possibility of rain and strong storm in the states of South India.

Advancing monsoon

The cyclonic circulation lies over South Interior Karnataka. A trough continues till north-west central. Heavy rainfall occurred in parts of Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Odisha, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh on Monday. Hailstorm activities were also seen at some places in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Western Uttar Pradesh. There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain here for the next few days.

Conditions favorable for monsoon

Meteorologists believe that this condition is favorable for monsoon. The more heat there is in the interior parts of the country in the month of May, the more comfortable will be the speed and direction of the monsoon. Southwest Monsoon is likely to advance into Andaman Sea, parts of Bay of Bengal and around Nicobar Islands within the next three to four days.
