Weather Update: Monsoon will hit the country after a few hours, know which states will receive rain

India Monsoon: The southwest monsoon is likely to hit Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Mizoram and other northeastern states today.

India Monsoon: The southwest monsoon may hit the Kerala coast and parts of the Northeast on Thursday (May 30, 2024), a day before the forecast. In such a situation, the monsoon is likely to arrive in a few hours. During this time it may also rain here.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday (May 29, 2024), “Conditions will remain favorable for the arrival of southwest monsoon in Kerala during the next 24 hours.” The weather office had predicted the arrival of monsoon in Kerala by May 31 on May 15.

What is the reason for the early arrival of monsoon?

Meteorologists said that Cyclone Remal, which passed through West Bengal and Bangladesh on Sunday, has pulled the monsoon flow towards the Bay of Bengal, which may be one of the reasons for the early arrival of monsoon in the Northeast.

According to the data of the Meteorological Department, Kerala has been receiving heavy rains for the last few days, resulting in more than normal rainfall in May.

What is the date of monsoon in the northeastern state?

The normal date of arrival of monsoon in the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur and Assam is June 5.

The IMD said, “During this period, conditions are becoming favorable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of South Arabian Sea, Maldives, Comorin, remaining parts of Lakshadweep, southwest and central Bay of Bengal, northeastern Bay of Bengal and some parts of northeastern states.”

When does the Meteorological Department declare monsoon?

The IMD declares the arrival of monsoon in Kerala when 14 centers in Kerala and neighboring areas receive rainfall of 2.5 mm or more for two consecutive days at any time after May 10, the outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) is low and the wind direction is towards the southwest.
