Weather Update: India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said that extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Gujarat and a fresh round of rain/thunderstorm may begin in eastern India from Wednesday. IMD said in its bulletin that light to moderate, widespread rainfall with thunder and lightning is forecast over western India. Apart from this, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in Gujarat and South Rajasthan on Monday and Tuesday.
The weather agency said that light to moderate, sporadic to very heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected at isolated places in North-West India. IMD said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in Jammu division and Himachal Pradesh on Monday.

Chances of storm in eastern India
IMD said, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in eastern India, later heavy rain, storm and lightning. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim as well as Jharkhand on Wednesday and Friday. West Bengal on the banks of Ganga may receive moderate to heavy rain on Monday, Thursday and Friday.
The forecast said, “It is expected to rain in Odisha till Thursday, with very heavy rains at isolated places on Wednesday and Thursday. Bihar may also receive heavy rains on Thursday and Friday.”

IMD has also predicted light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and thundershowers over Northeast India. “Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during Monday and Friday,” it said. But very heavy rain is expected.”
