Still below average rainfall in Jharkhand
Significantly, Jharkhand has still recorded less than average rainfall. The Meteorological Department says that where there should have been more than 455 mm of rain during this period, there has been 48 per cent less rain. Because of this, fields have started drying up in many districts including Gumla. Cracks have appeared in the fields. Due to lack of water, farmers could not sow paddy. The issue of deficient rainfall also cropped up in the assembly session. The Agriculture Department is also thinking about it. Actually, due to the indifference of monsoon, there was drought in Jharkhand last year also.
