The Meteorological Department estimates that there may be light rain due to strong wind on Monday also. Yellow alert has also been issued for this. The temperature was increasing in Delhi for the last few days. Due to strong sunlight throughout the day, the maximum temperature had even crossed 40 degrees in some areas, but on Saturday, due to a western disturbance, there was light rain in Delhi and surrounding areas in the afternoon. At the same time, on Sunday also it was cloudy since morning and there was drizzle at some places. Due to this the weather became pleasant and people got relief from the increasing heat.

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum rainfall of 6.9 mm was recorded in Palam area. Light drizzle or rain has also been recorded at Safdarjung, Lodhi Road, Ridge, Ayanagar, Pitampura and Pusa weather stations. Due to this, the maximum temperature has also dropped significantly. The maximum temperature at Delhi’s Standard Observatory Safdarjung was 39.3 degrees Celsius on Saturday, which was recorded at 32.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday. It has dropped by seven degrees within 24 hours. This is four degrees less than normal.

At the same time, the minimum temperature was 21.4 degrees Celsius, which is normal temperature. The humidity level ranged from 77 to 50 percent. The Meteorological Department estimates that there may be light rain in some areas of Delhi on Monday also. During this period, the wind speed can also range from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Due to this, yellow alert has been issued.

Scorching heat will not bother you now: It is a matter of relief for the people of Delhi that they will not have to face the scorching heat right now. There will be intermittent movement of clouds, strong wind and light drizzle throughout this week. Especially on Friday and Saturday, there are chances of light drizzle in isolated areas. Due to this, the maximum temperature of Delhi is likely to remain below 40 degrees.

Pollution level also improved

The effect of this change in weather is also visible on the pollution level. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, due to strong wind and light rain, the pollutant particles have dispersed to a great extent. The average air quality index of Delhi stood at 140 points on Sunday. The air at this level is kept in the moderate category. On Saturday, the index stood at 196, which was just five points below the bad category. This clean level of air quality will remain for the next two days also.
