Weather Updates: Heavy Rain alert in Delhi-NCR till January 6 amid cold; Know the condition of cold wave

Weather Updates: The mood of the weather has completely changed due to a fresh western disturbance. There was dense fog in Delhi-NCR today. Visibility has reduced considerably. The Meteorological Department says that there are chances of light rain and snowfall in the western Himalayan region. Its effect can be seen in the plains of the country. This situation is likely to persist till January 6. According to the IMD, there may be heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad till January 6.

Apart from this, light rain is expected in the plains of North West India. There is a possibility of rain in different areas between 4 and 6 January. The Meteorological Department has also said that there is a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning along with snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on January 5 and 6.

Effect of cold and cold wave in Delhi

The national capital Delhi was covered in dense fog today, which led to a drop in temperature. Due to cold and cold wave in Delhi, people are resorting to bonfires to keep themselves warm. Visibility was seen to be very low at many places.

Cold day conditions may occur in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh. Dense fog is likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim and Odisha. There will be dense fog in Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Dense fog can also be seen in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till January 6.
