Muharram: It is the first month of the Islamic year i.e. Hijri year. The Hijri year starts from this month. This month is counted among the four holy months of Islam. Allah’s messenger Hazrat Muhammad has called this month the month of Allah. Ashura is the tenth date of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar.

Tirot Singh Day – Tirot Singh Day is celebrated every year on 17th July. This festival is celebrated in honor of Tirot Singh, a Meghalaya freedom fighter who led the struggle against the British in the 1800s. This day is a local public holiday in the Indian state of Meghalaya.
