Chartered accountants and IT lawyers say that the only way to bring the pending claims of your Income Tax Refund to the notice of the department is to write an email to the Centralized Processing Center (CPC).
Chartered accountant Soumyadipta Das says, “In case of failure of Income Tax Refund, taxpayers can file their service request on the e-filing portal. For this, you have to go to the My Account menu and click on the service request link. Click request type as new request and fill in the request category as a refund renewal. Then submit it. ”
Mail income tax department too
Chartered accountant Tapas Chakraborty says that people should bring the details of their case to notice also through mail and demand its speedy disposal. Chakraborty said, “There is nothing more you can do than this. You cannot meet any officer about this. ”
Officials of the Central Board of Direct Taxes told Money9 that apart from filing a case on the e-filing portal, you can also write to the department through a link (https://bit.ly/2YgCyk3).
The Finance Ministry has said that IT refunds in FY20 have been much higher than in the previous year. On 1 April 2021, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement, “CBDT has issued refunds of 2.62 lakh crore rupees to 2.38 crore taxpayers between 1.4.2020 to 31.03.2021. Whereas in the last fiscal, an income tax refund of Rs 1.83 lakh crore was issued. In this way, it has risen by 43.2 percent. ”
Of this amount, about Rs 87,749 crore was released in 2,34,27,418 cases which was non-corporate tax.
