Users who do not accept the privacy policy of WhatsApp will not have their account closed immediately but after a few weeks they will not be able to use many features.
If the social messaging app does not accept the privacy policy of WhatsApp by May 15, then the account of the users will not be closed, but after a few weeks they will not be able to use many features. Users who will not accept the privacy policy of WhatsApp, will not be able to access their chat list. Apart from this, they will also not be able to respond to incoming and video calls on the app. Only last week, Facebook-owned WhatsApp said that users who do not accept its privacy policy updates till May 15, their accounts will not be closed. However, the company has said that the current policy regarding inactive users will continue under which if the WhatsApp account is not active for 120 days, it can be deleted.
You can read messages only through notifications
WhatsApp has said on its website that it will continue to remind users to accept the privacy policy. Until the user accepts the policy, limited features will be available to him. Users will not be able to access their chat list but still they will be able to answer incoming calls and video calls. If the notifications are enabled, then the message can be read by tapping on it or call back on missed phone-video calls can also be done. However, even after a few weeks, if you do not accept the privacy policy, then you will not be able to receive incoming calls or notifications. No messages or calls will come on the WhatsApp of such users. However, the company has not clarified about the limited period.
Account will be deleted after 120 days
WhatsApp says that users who will not accept its privacy policy, their account will not be deleted. However, the current policy regarding interactive users will remain in force. Under this rule, usually if a WhatsApp account is not active for 120 days, it gets deleted. India is the largest market for WhatsApp. According to official figures, there are about 53 crore users of WhatsApp in India.
