Kejriwal said that with 300 units of free electricity, the electricity bill of 80 percent of the people of Punjab will be zero. This is Kejriwal’s guarantee, not the Captain’s promises which were not fulfilled in 5 years. Not only this, he said that thousands and thousands of bills are being received in Punjab today and connections are being cut if they are not deposited.
Emphasis on power political parties

There are currently 96 lakh electricity consumers in Punjab and due to expensive electricity, all political parties have started trying to make it a political issue. The reason behind this is also that the Congress had made an election promise in 2017 that the electricity being taken from private thermal plots would be reviewed and pressure would be put on them to provide cheap electricity.

Last year, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had promised in the assembly to bring a white paper regarding the agreement with private thermal plots, but he could not bring it. Electricity had become a big issue even during the Congress discord. On this, Congress in-charge Harish Rawat had asked Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to explore the possibilities of providing 200 units of free electricity in Punjab. He called it a decree of the party high command and said that the top leadership wants electricity to be provided free of cost in rural areas of Punjab. Farmers in Punjab are already getting electricity free of cost and now steps are being taken to provide free domestic electricity as well.
300 units free electricity
At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party had realized that if the Punjab government had explored the possibilities of 200 units of free electricity, then this big issue should not slip out of their hands. This is the reason why Arvind Kejriwal has announced 300 units of free electricity after reaching Chandigarh, so that if later the Congress government gives free electricity, then you will be in a position to say that the Congress government took this decision under their pressure.
