Uttar Pradesh Schools Closed: Due to severe cold in Uttar Pradesh, schools up to class 8 in many districts including Agra, Mathura, Gorakhpur, Lucknow will remain closed till January 14.
Winter Vacation Extended: Due to cold, school holidays have been extended in many districts of Uttar Pradesh. Due to severe cold and cold wave in many districts, DM has given instructions to keep schools closed. DM of Agra, Mathura, Gorakhpur, state capital Lucknow and some other districts have given instructions to keep all schools from class 1 to 8 closed further.
In Agra, DM has given instructions that all schools from class 1 to 8 will remain closed till January 14. Talking about Mathura, there are instructions to keep schools of CBSE, ICSE and all other boards closed till January 14. Whereas in Gorakhpur, there are instructions to keep schools closed till January 6. In the capital Lucknow, DM has given instructions to keep schools closed till January 11. These orders are applicable to all Hindi and English medium schools recognized by CBSE, ICSE and other boards.

Lucknow DM gave these instructions
According to the order of Lucknow DM Suryapal Gangwar, in those schools where holiday has not been declared for classes 9th to 12th, online classes should be conducted till January 11. In case this is not done, classes should be conducted in schools from 10 am to 3 pm. According to the letter, it is the responsibility of the school management to make all arrangements to protect from cold in such schools. Also, instructions have been given by the District Magistrate not to make the students sit outside for class/practical and examination.
Effect of cold wave is visible
Cold wave has gained momentum in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab due to winds coming from North India. This severe cold has made normal life challenging and people are mostly staying indoors. The Meteorological Department has predicted dense fog in many parts of the state for the next three days. Along with this, a warning has also been given that the minimum temperature may fall to 6 degrees Celsius in the next few days.
