Withdrawal Deposit Rules: Big update on deposits and withdrawals above Rs 1 lakh; New rules implemented regarding Lok Sabha elections

Election Commission Guidelines for Bank: The Election Commission has issued some instructions for banks during the Lok Sabha elections. This includes many points including depositing or withdrawing more than Rs 1 lakh in the bank account.

Election Commission Guidelines for Bank: The date of Lok Sabha elections has been finalized. The code of conduct has come into force with the announcement of the dates. Steps are being taken by the Election Commission to make elections transparent. Under this, if more than Rs 1 lakh is deposited or withdrawn from any bank account during the elections, then the information will have to be given to the District Election Officer. This rule will be applicable for those who have not made such deposits or withdrawals in the last two months.

Apart from this, if more than Rs 10 lakh is withdrawn from any bank account, its information will be given by the District Election Officer to the nodal officer of the Income Tax Department. Also, banks will have to give information about all suspicious transactions to the District Election Officer. The Chief Electoral Officer gave instructions regarding election expenditure in a meeting with the State Level Bankers Committee appointed by the Election Commission of India. About 51 officers of major banks participated in it.

Apart from this, the Chief Election Commission has given instructions that the contesting candidate will have to open a separate bank account for election expenses. He can also open a bank account in his own name or a joint account with his agent. Bank account can be opened in any bank or post office a day before enrolment. For this, instructions have been given to all banks to open special counters.

The Chief Electoral Officer has instructed the banks that for carrying cash during elections, QR receipt will be generated from the ESMS portal and given to the officers and employees accompanying the vehicle transporting the cash. This will have to be shown during checking. If the cash information does not match the QR receipt, it will be considered a violation. If the QR receipt is not being generated due to any technical glitch, then the cash transportation will be done along with the requisite evidence as per the SOP issued for cash transportation for banks.
